gobbling

our hodge podge vegan thanksgiving was similar to this.
lots of mini pumpkin pies, cooking in underwear & tom foolery.

my sweet roommate & i - both east coast gals determined not to have a lonesome thanksgiving gathered our significant others and cooked up a feast. the two of us scavenged through 3 different grocery stores in search of tempeh, wheat berries, sage and rutabagas. turns out those aren't considered necessities for the holidays. but as we swapped stories of our worst & best turkey days we kept adding to the list of "must haves". i could not do without BBQ sauce and lil' bridget needed her grandpa's famous mashed potatoes. after 5 hours of cooking, watching Ratatouille and taste testing every new ingredient, we gorged.

i am so thankful for friends and family everywhere i've been and everywhere i will go. it's a wonderful thing to think how many people there are still to meet who will mean as much to you as some of your closest loved ones. it was a thankful thanksgiving indeed.
